According to his death certificate, Francesco was 70 when he died. HOWEVER, according to Theresa Battaglia Gregory, she has located a ship's manifest that shows Francesco as 57 in 1889. And in the 1900 census, his age is recorded as 67. This leads us to think that he was most likely born about 1832. His marriage certificate (to Maria Leone) says that he was born in Marineo. Giovanni Montanti has not been able to find a birth record for him, either in Marineo or Alia, and has searched extensively throughout the decade of the 1830's. Veronica Cascio, his daughter-in-law (married to Joseph) told her daughter Santa that Francesco had been married three times. We only have two wives recorded here.
