(Richard Olmstead) "m. Frances Slany, buried 10 Sept. 1630, sister of Thomas Slany of London, haberdasher, whose will, proved 28 July 1638, gave legacies to Joseph, his sister Holmested's youngest son, to his niece Sarah Holmestead, and to his nephew Richard Holmestead. Thomas Slany also gave legacies to the three children of his sister Bazie, one of whom was doubtless John Bazie of Hartford, who was called cousin in the will of Capt. Richard Olmstead of Norwalk."

The wills of "Thomas Slany of London, haberdasher" (pp. xii-xiii) and Richard Olmsted (son of Richard and Frances) (pp. 189-191), taken together, imply that Frances was related to Thomas Slany, likely his sister. The will of Thomas Slany mentions both "my sister Bazies" and "'my nephew Richard Holmestead". The will of Richard Olmstead (son of Richard and Francis) mentions the two daughters (Elizabeth Peck and Lidea Baker) of his "cousin Bazies". The simplest explanation is that both Frances and the wife of Mr. Bazies (and grandmother of Elizabeth Peck and Lidea Baker) were sisters of Thomas Slany.
