Census 1671 Port Royal, Acadiawith Anne Marie Blanchard

BIRTH: Was he born in France, just before coming to Acadia?

!DEATH: Before the 1671 census, on which the widow of Francois GUDEIN? [note above in parents' entry spells it GUÉRIN], age 25, was living with her 5 children, ages 12 to 2, next door to her parents.

GUÉRIN, François, came from France and married Anne Blanchard, according to Claude Pitre, widower of his granddaughter Isabelle Guérin (Doc. inéd., Vol. III, pp. 28-29). Claude made a mistake in his statement regarding his first wife?s grandparents, calling them Jérôme and Marie, instead of François and Anne. He apparently presumed that his father-in-law Jérôme Guérin had been named after his father before him. The correct given names appear in the 1671 census (see DGFA-1, pp. 775-776).

[No parents given for him.] Francois GUÉRIN died (Belle-Ile-en-Mer Declaration) at Port Royal before the 1671 census. A note explains that the Belle-Ile Declaration of Claude PITRE was in error in naming Jerome GUÉRIN & Marie BLANCHARD as the original Acadian ancestors. These were rather Francois & Anne BLANCHARD.
