New Castle News, New Castle, Lawrence Co, PA, 17 August 1978 Floyd V. Lortz, 82, of 229 Euclid Avenue, died at 1:20 PM in Golden Hill Nursing Home after an extended illness. He was born in Plain City, OH on Aug 21, 1895 to the late William H and Lucretia Elliott Lortz. He was a retired auto salesman beginning in 1921 in New Castle, selling Ford cars and tractors with the Penn Motor and Implement Co. He later was with AC McCoy Motor Co and in 1930 he became affiliated with the Chambers Motor Co as salesman and later was sales manager. He sold Chrusler and Plymouth cars for 40 years. Mr. Lortz was a member of Clen-Moore United Presbyterian Church since 1923 and served as an elder. He was clerk of session of the church for 30 years and also a Sunday School Superintendent, teacher of the Men’s Class and the Lockhart Class, and a member of the Men’s Club of the church. He was a member of the City Rescue Mission Board since 1965 and a graduate of the public schools of Columbus, Ohio and Ohio State University where he was a member of Alpha Zeta Fraternity. He is survived by his wife the former Pearl E. Pattison, whom he married on July 31, 1923; a son William Charles Lortz of Houston, Texas; 2 sisters Mrs. LW (Lena) Jacquith and Mrs. HC (Fauntilla)Rheinfrank, both of Fort Wayne, IN, a nephew and 2 nieces. He was preceded in death by a brother William and a sister Mrs. Warren W. (Ethel) Pembroke. Friends will be received at the Robert A. Myers Home for Funerals, 208 N. Jefferson St, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Friday. The service will be at the funeral home conducted by Rev Robert LaForce of Clen-Moore United Presbyterian Church and Rev F Dickson Marshall of the City Rescue Mission. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery. References
