"In the 1920s we lived at Eltham in South East London and in those days Florence Blanche was a trainee nurse at St Georges Hospital and spent many of her off duty hours with my mother [Elizabeth Ann Heard]. Later I believe she became Matron of the hospital in Rio. When she and her husband Jack retired to Worthing I saw them both three or four times a year."
