Fanny Copps was baptised on 28th September 1788 at Weston in Hertfordshire, daughter of Mary Copps, formerly Dearman, and her husband James Copps.
On 23rd March 1811, aged 22, Fanny married an agricultural labourer called James Graves at Weston. He was from the village of Stotfold in Bedfordshire, about six miles to the north. After their marriage they moved to Stotfold, having three children baptised there between 1813 and 1818. They then moved a couple of miles east of Stotfold to the village of Newnham in Hertfordshire, where they had another five children baptised between 1821 and 1834, although one of these died as a baby.
Back in Weston, Fanny's father died in 1829 and her mother died in 1833.
The 1841 census finds Fanny, James and three of their children living at a place called Waterloo in Newnham. James was working as an agricultural labourer. The 1851 and 1861 censuses each find Fanny and James living in the parish of Newnham too. In 1851 they had a granddaughter called Fanny Austin living with them.
Fanny died in 1862, aged 74. She was buried at Newnham on 11th November 1862. James survived her by about seven years.
