Ezra Read died 26th ult at his residence in Salem Twp, 80 years old. He was born Worchester Co, MA, the son of Daniel Read and his mother was daughter of Capt John Brown. Came to Marietta, OH 1802, married daughter of Capt Silas Clark of Chelsea, MA; children Daniel Read, professor at Wisconsin State University; late Judge Read; late Edward Read, MD; Dr Read of Terre Haute, Ind; late Amasa Read of LA; Abner Read USN; Sheridan P Read, Illinois; Lt EWH Read, US Army; Mrs McFerson of Glendale Female College the only daughter; his 2nd wife was daughter of Z Luse of Champaign County. Buried Kingscreek Cemetery.
