    LYMAN FAMILY
    1. EZEKIEL [6] LYMAN (Jabez [5], Samuel [4], Richard [3], Richard [2], Richard [1], b. Oct. 23, 1733 (?); not listed after 1796; paid no poll tax in 1791, which would indicate that he was sixty or more at that time; date of death not known. Asa Perrin wrote in his diary that on Sunday, June 27, 1802, he went to see "old Mr. Lyman at noon"; said to have died at great age, and to have been bur. on his farm; m. Feb. 10, 1759, Elizabeth Bliss. There is no land record connected with Ezekiel Lyman. On Sep. 28, 1788, Asa his son, bought the farm where Ezekiel lived, known later as the Lewis Skinner farm.... According to family tradition Ezekiel came from Canterbury, Conn., to Royalton in 1783. His son Jabez built the house now standing on the farm where he settled. All of his sons except Ezekiel, Jr., and Jabez appear in the first census, 1790; Asa was last listed in 1802; William, 1805; Daniel, 1803; Samuel, 1804; Eliphalet and Jabez remained in town permanently. Ch. all b. Lebanon, Conn., except Jabez.

Mr. Coleman's assessment of Ezekiel Lyman and family is partially quoted in Mrs Lovejoy's. They differ in several of the dates mentioned, and Coleman asserts that all of Ezekiel's children were born in Canterbury, Conn., whereas Lovejoy assigns all but Jabez as being born in Lebanon. BTW, no birth records are found in Canterbury VR or in the 4 Vols of Lebanon VR.
