Name

His name wasn't John and there is no evidence he was ever known as John. A "Short History" of the family written by a descendant in 1906 calls him John, but the writer was mistaken[1].

Mother's name

Many trees give his mother's name as Mary Bailey, which appears to be the result of confusion with Mary, the wife of Robert Inman of Surry County, Virginia[1], whose maiden name might have been Bailey. There doesn't seem to be a close DNA relationship between Ezekiel and the Surry County Inman's.
