"Ewald A. Buehring, 93 of Tyler, TX passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2009. He was born in Dimebox, TX on January 26, 1916 to Rose and Walter Buehring. Ewald was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 27 years, Twillie Irene; siblings, Ella Perry, August Buehring, Minnie Schaarschmidt, and Albert Buehring; stepson, Ernest Alexander; and sons-in-law, Rick Renfro and Jerry Lane. He is survived by his daughter, Dorthy Paul and husband Frank; step-daughters, Martha Lane and Linda (Renfro) Dufner and husband Rock. Ewald is also survived by six grandchildren, Frank and Emily Paul, Glenn Paul, Denise and John White, Kris and Todd Ross, Landon Renfro and Kristin Renfro; and five great-grandchildren, Katheryn and Elizabeth White, and Lane, Haldon and Sloane Ross. Ewald was known as Ed by his family and friends and called "Dutch" by his friends at the Texas Highway Department. As a young man, Ed worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps and as an oil field worker in California. Ed later worked for the Texas Highway Department, where he was an equipment manager retiring after 23 years of service. Ed had Parkinson's disease the last 20 years of his life, and for the last ten plus years lived with and was cared for by his loving sister-in-law, Evelyn Scates. More than a sister-in-law, Evelyn was Ed's best friend and her tireless efforts ensured that Ed was able to enjoy life as much aspossible despite his illness. Evelyn, along with her children Darlene and Buster, Buster's wife Pam and sons Cody and Cole, kept Ed active and engaged in life through their companionship and care. Our family expresses our heartfelt thanks to Doctor Stephen Rydzak and his staff, who went above and beyond in their care and friendship of Ed for many years. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, Austin, TX (512) 335-1155. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills, with interment to follow at Austin Memorial Park."
