Everett E. Shaefer:S1 Everett Ephrium Shaefer, son of Arthur A. Shaefer and Sylvia Wolfe Shaefer, was born May 27, 1917 on a farm near Adair, Iowa. At the age of two, he moved with his family to a farm near Stuart where he lived until completing college. At this time he move to Pennsylvania where he resided until his death. He departed this life at his home in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania on November 30, 1986. Everett graduated from Stuart High School in May 1935. He attended Drake University in Des Moines graduating with a BA in business administration in 1939. He furthered his education at the University of Iowa in Iowa City attaining his Master’s degree in business law in 1940. He took additional credits at Pennsylvania State University, the University of Delaware and Temple Law School. On January 2, 1980 Everett was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ruth Wyers. They returned annually to Iowa to vacation and work on the family farm south of Menlo. Everett loved to work in his garden and flowers around his home. Everett was a member of the United ME Church in Stuart, Iowa, joining in his youth. Later he transferred his membership to a church in Pennsylvania. Everett served as Bursar and later as Director of Business Affairs at West Chester University in West Chester Pennsylvania. Everett had the distinction of having the longest continuous service as a state business officer, serving over 40 years prior to his death. He was given special commendation by the Middle States Association of College and Secondary Schools. Preceding Everett in death were his parents, and a sister, Mable Ratliff. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Elizabeth; sisters Mildred McLuen of Stuart, Iowa, Lena Roberts, of Goshen, Utah, four nieces and one nephew. Everett was a loving husband and brother and will be greatly missed. Services were held on December 4 at the Bailey Funeral Chapel at Norristown, Pennsylvania with burial at Riverside Cemetery in Norristown. [Article in Stuart Herald] ▼Image Gallery
