Obituary MRS. PETER TRAUT, 94, DIES; RETIRED AUSTINTOWN TEACHER Mrs. Eva May Traut, 94, of 2524 Kirk Road, former area teacher and active churchwoman, died of infirmities at 8:05 a.m. today at her reisdence (sic). Mrs. Traut was born Nov. 5, 1879, in Cornersburg, a daughter of John D. and Lucy Fultz Hoover. She attended Baldwin Normal School, a forerunner of Baldwin Wallace College, and the former Kent College. She began teaching in 1895 in Youngstown, going in 1927 to the Austintown school district, where she taught fourth and sixth grades until her retirement in 1943. She was a 50-year-active member of the Wickliffe Christian Church where she taught Sunday School and was the only woman to ever serve as chairman of the board. She was a member of Miriam Chapter, OES, and the local, state and national teachers' organizations. For many years she helped area immigrants learn the English language at Christ Mission Settlement. Her husband, Peter, to whom she was married in 1909, died in 1927. She leaves three daughters; Mrs. Elizabeth L. Chubb, supervisor of Youngtown's motivation program, Mrs. Dorothy J. Bailey, wife of the Youngstown postmaster, Chester Bailey, and Mrs. Helen Jeffrey, who teaches in Youngstown State University's nursing program; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Thompson Funeral Home where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Wednesday.
