Eurena F. Beers, 94, of Palmerton, died Sunday, May 4, 2008 in Blue Mountain Health System, Palmerton. Born October 2, 1913 in Big Creek, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Florence (Strohl) Graver. She was the wife of the late Stanford Beers. Eurena was a former correspondent for the Morning Call and was a member of Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton She was a Sunday school teacher for the nursery class for 30 years and taught the adult class. She served on the church consistory and was the first editor of the church newsletter. She was a freelance writer and contributor to childrens magazines and other periodicals. She was also a contributing editor of the local Towamensing Times and township newsletter. She was a member of the former Aquashicola Flower Club and a 4-H leader of Aquashicola girls group. She was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ, Palmerton, Quilting Group. She was a member of Star Button Club of the Lehigh Valley and Lehigh Gap Historical Society Preservation Society. She was acutely interested in family genealogy, particularly in the Strohls and Gravers and assembled an extensive collection of documents. Beers of Laurys Station; sister, Anna Belle Frederick of Whitehall; brothers, Edward and William Graver, both of Lehighton; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters, Lois Anderson and Pearl Marie Jones.
