Published on October 7, 1948 - Mrs. Etta Florence Shoemaker, 73, wife of Grant Shoemaker, of West Gibson avenue, South Conellsville, died at 7 o'clock Wednesday night at her home after a lingering illness. Mrs. Shoemaker was born June 10, 1875 in Somerset county, and had been a resident here for the past 50 years. She was a daughter of the late William Schrock and Mrs. Sarah Schrock Eiford. A member of the Albright Evangelical Church in South Connellsville, she had been superintendent of the Sunday school there for over 12 years and was active in all church circles until her death, dating back about 15 years. She was also,a member of the Magic Sister Council, Daughters of America. Surviving are her husband, one son, Munden Dewey Shoemaker, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren; three step brothers, John Eiford of Washington state, Harry Eiford, of Alberta, Canada; and Judson Eiford of Rockwood; and two step-sisters, Mrs. Catherine Hines and Mrs. Anna Dickey of Rockwood. A daughter, Mrs. Hazel Corvin, of South Connellsvllle, died in 1918.The funeral service will be held at 2:45 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the home with Rev. Bishop, former pastor of the Albright E. U. B. Church, officiating. Burial will be made in Hill Grove Cemetery. The body may be viewed after 10 o'clock Friday morning.
