Ethel died from diptheria. She had to be buried on New Year's Day, but no one was working on the grave yard shift, and Ethel had to be buried right away because they were afraid of her still being contagious. They did not have a plot for her, so they used a Newquist plot temporarily. The family had to dig her own grave, which could have been done by Fred, and August, Herb and Willard Newquist.Then later Ethel was moved to the Larson family plot at Oak Hill Cemetery.
