Ethel Gulledge Kelly WADESBORO -- Mrs. Kelly, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 30, 2006 in Anson Community Hospital. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Kelly will be held at 2:30 p.m. today, Saturday, in First Baptist Church with Dr. Fred Senter officiating. The family will greet friends in the downstairs church parlor beginning at 1 p.m. Mrs. Kelly was born October 22, 1913 in the Mayesville community of Anson County, a daughter of the late Suzanne Jackson and Walter Preston Gulledge. She was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church in the Mayesville community and later First Baptist Church in Wadesboro. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Preceding her in death were her husband, Benjamin S. Kelly, brothers, Will Frank, Max, Preston, Jack, and a sister, Leda Gulledge. Survivors include her children, Sheila K. Sikes and husband, Winfred of Wadesboro, Preston Kelly and wife, Betty of Ocean Isle Beach, and Joy K. Hewitt of Roswell, GA. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Kelly Sikes of Greenville, NC, Suzanne S. Gregory and husband, David of Monroe, Blair Kelly and wife, Kelly of Raleigh, Lawson K. Kiser and husband, Will of Clemmons, Hailey Hewitt and Megan Hewitt, both of Roswell, GA; and 6 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 423, Wadesboro, NC 28170. Leavitt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
