    Ethel Ruth Arnburg Shaefer, 91, Adair, passed away October 13. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct ober 16, at the First Presbyterian Church in Dexter. Rev G.E. "Bud" Wiser and Rev. Dr. Ray Martin officiated the services. Nadine Shepherd, organist, accompanied soloist Jaime Harrison. Pallbearers were Dale King, Ben Ross, Jr., Keven Rose, Joe Goldman, Darrel Shaefer, and Robert Larson. Honorary pallbearers were Ray Hall, William Shaefer, and Todd Hall. Interment was at the Fremont Memory Gardens in Canon City, Colorado. Ethel Ruth Arnburg Shaefer was born in Guthrie County on June 30, 1910 to Charles H. and Sarah Jane (Isaac) Arnburg. She attended country school through the eighth grade. Ruth maarried Lester Shaefer on June 27, 1936 at the Presbyterian manse in Adair. They had four children. Ruth and Lester farmed in Guthrie County, Adams County and Adair County until moving to Canon City, Colorado in 1955. Ruth worked at Carl's Motel In Carson City for almost 20 years beginning as a housekeeper and retired as head of laundry in 1975. Ruth joined the Presbyterian Church in Adair in her youth. After moving to Canon City, Co she joined the United Presbyterian Church where she attended until moving to Adair in 1991. Ruth was a 4H leader and a member of the Willing Workers Club before moving to Colorado. Ruth was a member of the Residents Council after entering the Adair Community Health Center in 1991. Ruth enjoyed visiting with her friends and kept in touch with riends in various parts of the country. Ruth started working on a "family history" that included all the marriages, births and deaths of the Charles and Sarah Arnburg family. Ruth is survived by her daughter Doris King of Dexter, son Edward (Marsha) of Colorado Springs, Co., daughter-in-law Mary (Dave) Hall of Canon City, Co., brother Max (Bonnie) Arnburg of Earlham, seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lester, her son Darwin, and daughter, Karen, son-in-law T. G. (Dale) King, sisters Pearl, Esther, Vera and Lois, brothers, Fred, Oberlin, Roy and Raymond.
