Esther Starbuck is said to be the daughter of Edward Starbuck and Katherine Reynolds, no date of birth given. She is said to have married first William Furber and second Humphrey Varney, son of William Varney and Bridget Varney (sic) with whom she had two children, Moses Varney who married Phoebe Tuttle and Ebenezer Varney, born about 1670, who married Mary Otis.

Some researchers show Humphrey married to Esther Starbuck, supposedly a sister of Sarah’s. Sources cited for the marriage, however, clearly support Humphrey’s wife as Sarah, widow of Joseph Austin and William Story.
