Esther A. Hess departed this life January 27, 2012, at the home of her daughter, Tina Darlich, in Littlestown. She was the companion of William "Bill" Wetzel, who died October 24, 1999.
Born February 22, 1931, in Kingsdale, she was the daughter of the late Charles E., Sr. and Treva A. (Krumrine) Koontz.
Esther was a 1949 Littlestown High School graduate and had been employed with Windsor Shoe of Littlestown.
She was retired from Littlestown Hardware & Foundry.
Esther was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Littlestown.
She is survived by a daughter, Tina L. (Hess) Darlich and husband, Jay, and a son, Todd H. Hess and wife, Cheri, all of Littlestown; eight grandchildren, Jessica M. (Reisinger) Knight and husband, Patrick of New Oxford, Jacquilyne M. Reisinger and companion, Brandon Bowlin of Littlestown, Austin W. Davidson of South Williamsport, Kyler J. Krug of Westminster, MD, and Crystal L. Hess, Joshua C. Hess, Kaelonnah J. Darlich, and Cashton A. Darlich, all of Littlestown; two great-grandchildren, Kyle M. Miller of New Oxford and Devon A. Reisinger of Littlestown; two brothers, Charles E. "Ike" Koontz, Jr. and wife, Loretta of Winchester, VA, and David C. Koontz and wife, Linda of Littlestown; and three sisters, Naomi H. Bair of Hanover, Mildred I. Dehoff and husband, Paul of Taneytown, MD, and Ruth A. Rucker and husband, Robert of Littlestown.
Esther was predeceased by a daughter, Peggy L. Hess, and a sister, Mary G. Koontz.
Funeral service will be, February 4, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Littlestown, with her pastor, The Rev. James S. Dunlop, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown.
