Baptism year later than Endowment year. See date of B for Rin 289 ie 4Dec. 1953 which was done at approximately the same time. Birthdate could have been 4 February. See Duane Jakins' notes for Esther Willmore.Name also shown as Ester. The Willmore and Chapman families came to South Africa with the 1820's settlersin a ship called 'Chapman'. They settled in the Grahamstown district where Charles Willmore married Laura Chapman. They trekked to Kuruman by ox wagon (a week-long trip) whereCharles Willmore became an ivory hunter. He retuned home infrequently; only long enough to conceive children, of which they had 6. Laura died of cancer when she was 49. Her daughter Gertrude May, who was living at the Cape, took in the youngest Willmore child, Douglas, and brought him up as one of her own. References
