- ↑ Smith Ernest Carl, 76, of 334 W. Washington Center Road, Fort Wayne, was pronounced dead on arrival at Parkview Hospital where he was taken after being found lying unconscious in the hallway outside his apartment Sunday. A native of Auburn, he was a retired superintendent of the Auburn Printing Co. He was born in Syracuse to Homer and Hattie Smith, moved to Cromwell when he was a young man, graduating from Cromwell High School in 1914. He was a Navy veteran. Surviving are 2 sons, James (Jack), Schenectady, New York, and Everett P., Fort Wayne; 2 brothers, Edward, Auburn, and Everett, Louisville, Ky.; and one sister, Mrs. Celia Kuhn, Pierceton; 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Gretchen Whonsetler, Fort Wayne, died on April 27. + 4-?-1972
