    1776 -Feb 18; Enoch Jobe enlisted in Capt. William Croghan's Company, Colonel Muhlenburg's Regiment (8th VA Regiment of Shenandoah) of the VA line and served 2 terms as private. He was engaged in the Battles of White Plains, Trenton, Brandywine, Germantown, and White Marsh. 1778 -Feb 17: Enoch Jobe was discharged at Valley Forge, PA - while under General Charles Scott.
    He was disowned by the Quakers for serving in the Revolutionary War. Like most of the Jobe family, he became a Baptist.
    was born 1755 in Dunmore County Virginia, and died April 19, 1843 in Cole County Missouri. He married (1) Lucretia "Lucrecy" ? on Bet. 1777 - 1780 in Virginia?. He married (2) Mrs. Sarah Martin (maiden name not known) on April 11, 1829 in Cooper Co Missouri.

    On this 22 day of February in the year 1828 personally appeared in Open court (being a court of record for the County of Cole aforesaid in the state of Missouri made a Court of record by the laws of the State proceeding by course of the common law, having jurisdiction unlimited in amount, and keeping a record of their proceedings, having the power of fine and imprisonment, and having a seal) Enoch Job resident in said County aged about seventy years who being duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the provision made by the acts of Congress 1818 and the first May 1820 that he the said Enoch Job enlisted for the term of two years on the 18 day of February 1775 [later corrected to 1776] in the State of Virginia in the company commanded by Captain William Croghan in the Regiment commanded then, by Colonel Muhlenburg [sic: Peter Muhlenberg] in the line of the State of Virginia in the continental establishment: that he continued to serve in the said corps until the 15 February 1777 [sic: 1778], when he was discharged from the service in the state of Pennsylvania at Vally forge [sic: Valley Forge]: that he hereby relinquishes every claim whatever, to a pension except the present: that his name is not on the roll of any state except that of Virginia: and that the following are the reasons for not making earlier application for a pension: that he did not wish to become burdensome to the Country til compelled by old age and bodily infirmity which is increased by his age and a rupture, and the growth of a wen upon his shoulder. In pursuance of the act of the first May 1820 I do solemnly swear that I was a resident Citizen of the United States on the 18 day of March 1818 and that I have not since that time by gift sale or in any manner disposed of my property or any part thereof with intent thereby so to diminish it as to bring myself within the provisions of an act of Congress entitled “an act to provide for certain person engaged in the land and naval service of the United States in the Revolutionary War” passed on the 18 day of March 1818 and that I have not nor has any person in trust for me any property or securities contracts or debts due to me nor have I any income other than what is contained in the Schedule hereto annexed and by me subscribed (towit) Two mares one aged 20 years, the other aged 12 years, two Colts of said mares of the year 1827 one gelding about seven years old, one old waggon worth about forty dollars, three cows two heifers and two calves Five sheep, 18 stock hogs and pigs. Five pieces of cast iron for kitchen use, one cast iron spice mortar, and one shovel plow One negro woman aged seventy three years – I have no children living with me – I have a second wife aged fifty two years, having of her children living with me two daughters grown, and one son sixteen years of age that since the 18 of March 1818 no changes have been made in my property except by the change of stock on my farm by death of some, and natural increase of others.
    Enoch Job [William Campbell (pension application S34675) certified that he had known Job before and during the Revolutionary War, and that he had served in the same regiment with him. On 5 Dec 1828 in Charlton County MO Thomas Hardin (R4594) certified that he had known Enoch Jobe since early childhood and in 1776 enlisted him into service.

    NOTES:
    Job provided additional detail in the following statement supporting the pension application of William Campbell:
    On 27 June 1829 Enoch Job, aged about seventy or seventy one years of age, personally appeared before the subscriber, an acting Justice of the peace, for the County of Cooper [MO], & being duly sworn, doth depose and say, that he was personally acquainted with William Campbell, the present applicant for a pension, in the state of Virginia, who resided in Culpepper [sic: Culpeper] County, at the time of the Revolutionary War, this deponent residing in Shenandoah County [named Dunmore County until 1778].
    That this deponent, in 1776, joined Col. Muhlenburgh’s regiment, at Williamsburgh [sic: Williamsburg], in the summer, upon its return from the South, where it had been on a tour [to Sullivans Island SC at the Battle of Breach Inlet, 28 Jun 1776], as he understood; that he then met with the said William Campbell, who had been in the service – that the said Campbell then belonged to the same regiment, in the company of Capt. George Slaughter, this deponent being in Capt. William Croghans. The regiment then marched to Pennsylvania; and, upon Col. Muhlenburgh’s promotion, it was in command of Col. Abraham Bowman.
    That this deponent was discharged in February 1778, at the Valley Forge; and he left the said Wm. Campbell then in the service – and remembers seeing him the day he left camp.

    On 22 March 1853 Sarah Job, 72, of Moniteau County MO, applied for a pension stating that she married Enoch Job in Cooper County on 11 April 1829. The file includes part of a page from a family record with the following entry: “Enoch Job Departed this life on the 19 Day of April 1843."
