By Elda LaVerne Pierce, grand daughter of Emma Hart. I was there when Emma H. Pierce passed away 17 Jan. 1922. She was at the home of her daughter Emma Jane Sweet. She is buried in the Wellington cemetery. She was later joined in repose by four of her children not many steps away. They are Jehu and Alice P. Blackburn, Franklin and Janas P. Sweet, Murray and Sadie Pierce, and Martin Riley and Harriet Pierce. Her husband and son George are buried in Giles, Wayne, Utah. Two of her girls are buried in Arizona.

One of the few times the families of Nathan and son Riley were not living with or near one another was when he and grandma Emma decided to move to Arizona. Her two daughters resided there, Phebe and Anna Melvina. The joint farm south of Huntington, Utah was sold. Papa (Riley) with his half of the profit and an inheritance which mama (Harriet) received from Grandma Peterson. They moved to Wayne Co. They purchased a farm. Would you believe, 8 months later grandpa, Nathan was back with them. This separation had to be between 1905-1907. They farmed together and at age 77 he passed away in our home. 28 July 1911. A year later his youngest son George, following a series of strokes passed away in the same house 25 Oct 1912.

Cornelia Staker married Elias Hart, who was born about 1804, in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Their first child, a son, Nathan Hart, was born there September 11, 1831. Apparently, they joined the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints soon after, and moved to Kirtland, Ohio, where their next three children were born; Jane, July 12, 1833; Emma, March 14, 1835, and Amanda Melvina, February 8, 1837-38.
Undoubtedly the family was well acquainted with the Prophet Joseph Smith, because Emma was blessed by him and given the name of "Emma" after his wife. The family was in Nauvoo at the time of the expulsion of the Saints in February, 1846, which was a very hard time for the Saints.
