Note by Bob Mitchell: Emily lists her home state as Kentucky on 1850 and 1860 US Census records, but in 1870 she listed Tennessee. Emily, listed as Ema, was the head of the household in 1870. The family apparently left Sumter County between 1870 and 1880 as they are not listed on the Sumter County Census in 1880.

Janie: Emma apparently had trouble knowing where she was born! In the 1880 Census below she was born in Virginia.
