Birth: Mar. 8, 1867 Bronson Branch County Michigan, USA Death: May 20, 1938 Lamar Prowers County Colorado, USA The following appeared in the Lamar Colorado newspaper on Monday May 23, 1938: Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon for Elmer E. Grett, 71-year-old Lamar man, who succumbed at his home here Friday afternoon.The services were from the Kirkpatrick - Duggan chapel. Many friends attended the last rites, and there was a large floral display.J.E.Parks, pastor of the First Christian church, officiated. Music wasfurnished by Mr. and Mrs. I.M. Merton, Mrs. Forest Baker, and Frank Strain who sang "Asleep in Jesus", "There's No Disappointment in Heaven", and "Jesus Lover of My Soul" with Miss Cletta Ramsey at the piano.The pall bearers were six of his nine sons, Levi, Frank, Fred, John, James, and Robert Grett. The body was interred in Fairmount cemetery with Kirkpatrick - Duggan mortuary in charge.

   OBITUARY: Elmer E. Grett, son of Jonathan and Emma Grett, was born at Bronson, Michigan on March 8,1867, and departed from his earthly life at Lamar, Colorado May 20, 1938 at the age of 71 years, one month and 12 days.On January 7, 1892 he was unitedin marriage to Mary Lena Rice at Kingman, Kansas. To this union twelve children were born, of which there were nine sons and three daughters.In the year of 1908, he confessed his faith in the Christ, and united with the First Christian Church at Cheney, Kansas. His membership has remained with the Cheney church for the past 30 years.He came to the State of Colorado in the year 1920 and located on a farm about 20 miles northeast of Lamar, where the family resided until a year ago in the month of April where on account of ill health they moved into Lamar where they made their home at 306 North Sixth street.
   Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.Those who most keenly feel their loss and mourn his going are his beloved wife, Mrs. Mary L. Grett of Lamar; the nine sons, Levi H. Grett of Troup Texas, Clarence Grett of Wichita Kansas, Charles Grett of MontaVista Colorado, John Grett of Lancaster California, Frank Grett of Wichita Kansas, Fred Grett of Lamar, Robert Grett of Los Angeles California, Elmer Grett Jr. of Troup Texas, James Grett of Lamar; the three daughters Mrs. Agnes Romero of Portland Oregon, Mrs. Emma Peterson of Portland Oregon, and Mrs. Charlotte Jennings of Wiley Colorado; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Voigt of Hudson Kansas, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Ewalt of Great Bend Kansas; Max Rice of Hudson Kansas; his two sisters, Mrs. Hettie DeWeese of Cunningham Kansas, and Mrs. Abby Phillips of Wenatchee Washington; 20 grandchildren and a host of neighbors and friends.
