Elmer John Boettner, 87, of Jeannette, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 1, 2006, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Sept. 6, 1918, in Penn, a son of the late Burrall and Catherine (Loughner) Boettner. Elmer was employed as a machinist by Elliott Company, Jeannette, for 42 years. He was a lifelong member of Jeannette Assembly of God Church. In addition to his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Dolores; an infant daughter; a brother, James Boettner; and a sister, Wilma Cheplick. Surviving are a daughter, Ruth Anne O'Dowd, of Jeannette; and a son, Raymond and wife, Ellen Boettner, of Rankin. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Kevin, Chad, Keirsten and Samantha, and his great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Megan, Hailey and Ashley. Also surviving are a brother, Burrall Boettner and his wife, Gloria, of Florida; a sister, Clara Soles, of Jeannette; and numerous nieces and nephews. Respecting the family's wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Jeannette Assembly of God Church with Pastor Martin Koss officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Elmer Boettner Memorial Fund, c/o S&T Bank, 85 Greensburg St., Delmont, PA 15626.
