I checked the online church records fro Krødsherad and there is an Elling Ellingsen born April 1, 1816 and baptised on April 15, 1816. Sorteberg and Sandum are both mentioned in the names of the sponsors so I believe that this is the same person you speak of (and something the bygdebok author missed). I do believe that the Elling Erlandsen that found on page 704 (a Snekkerplassen on Nore) is this child. Garth
