QUAY 3 "Mrs. Henry Lane recieved a telegram the first of the week informing her that her sister, Miss Ellen Mahoney, had died on Sunday morning [9/16 or 9/23/1917] at Brockville Hospital. Miss Mahoney, who was 86 years of age, had been in the Institute there for 19 years...She was born in County Waterford, Ireland and came to Canada in 1848 with her father, the late Thomas Mahoney, who settled in Mar a twp. about a mile from Atherly. Miss Mahoney lived in Orillia for many years. Besides her only sister, Mrs. Lane, there are two brothers, James Mahoney sr., on the old homestead near here, and Tho mas, of Uptergrove. Burial took place at Brockville."
