Jonathan Rice m. (3) 12 Feb 1691 Elizabeth Wheeler. The will of his widow Elizabeth was proved in Middlesex County 1744. All but his first five children were by Elizabeth.
[Note: no will of Elizabeth is found in Jonathan's probate file, and searching turns up no probate Elizabeth Rice in 1744 or for 20 years either side of this.]

  4. The identification of Jonathan's wife as the daughter of Richard Wheeler is found in various secondary sources (e.g., Source:Wheeler, Daniel M. Wheeler Family of Rutland, Mass., and Some of Their Ancestors, p. 1), but no direct evidence has been found. It seems likely, however, since the birth of children through 1714 suggests Elizabeth wasn't born much before late 1660s, and Elizabeth's mother Sarah (Prescott) Wheeler married (2) Jonathan's uncle Joseph Rice.
