Questionable death date [17 November 2009]

The death date of 26 Oct 1744 in Lancaster was removed. This is not found in Source:Nourse, Henry Stedman. Birth, Marriage, and Death Register, Church Records and Epitaphs of Lancaster, Massachusetts, 1643-1850. No marriage is shown, and any death date would be listed under the maiden name, or else the marriage should be known. After searching it was discovered that Source:Concord, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States. Births, Marriages, and Deaths, 1635-1850 p. 159, has Elisabeth Fletcher Relict Widow of Cornett Samuel Fletcher Died. october. 26: 1744. Naturally, this is assumed to be the source of this death date.

However, it appears to be a misapplication of the death record. This is a different Elizabeth Wheeler. The other Elizabeth Wheeler is from a Concord family, is listed as the spouse of Samuel Fletcher by Source:Wheeler, Albert Gallatin. Genealogical and Encyclopedic History of the Wheeler Family in America, p. 144. This Elizabeth would have been barely 13 on the marriage date of 15 Jun 1682 (see Source:Concord, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States. Births, Marriages, and Deaths, 1635-1850 p. 25.) So basically, it is not likely that this Elizabeth Wheeler is the one who married Samuel Fletcher, and therefore not likely that this death date applies to this Elizabeth Wheeler. --Jrich 12:37, 17 November 2009 (EST)
