Eliza Steele Will
In the name of God Amen I Elisabeth Steele of Rockbridge County, do make this my last will and testament in the following manner that is to say in the first place, I allow all my just debts to be paid and after all my last debts and Funeral expenses is paid, I leave and Bequeath to my uncle Joseph McClung a bond of one hundred dollars that James McClung and him executed to my Mother Rebecca Steele dated the seventh day of December 1795, also a Bed and furniture, also a chest.
2nd I leave and bequeath to my Aunt Peggy Tate my best bed and furniture also two Jackenale musland Gown, three pair silk gloves, one white shawl, one striped manland gown & Colspiller two cotten younds?, one table cloth, one notted spread, one culice sproad?, two calico gowns, one thick silk gown and my best saddle.
3rd I leave and bequeath to my Aunt Betsy McClung one pair Black silk gloves, one white shaul, one umbrella, one cotton bourd, two calico spreads, one dark calico gown and one saddle.
4th I leave and Bequeath to Ellen Tate one white shaul, one Black shalle, one calido gown, one silk coat.
5th I leave and bequeath [to] Pheby Tate one brown silk gound, one pair silk stockings, one chest of drawers.
6th I leave and bequeath to Rebecca Tate one saddle, one white cotton coat.
7th I leave and bequeath to Elizabeth Allen my finest combrick musland goun, one white shaul
8th I leave and bequeath to Aunt Betsey Stuart one Kos? Mustard gound, one Table cloth, one calico Quill not quilted
9th I leave and bequeath to Dolly Stuart, one Jukenet? mustard gound, one musland coat
10th I leave and bequeath to Nancy Caruthers one cambridk mustard gound
11th I leave and Bequeath to Polly McClung one sprigeed mustard gound
12th I leave and bequeath to Hatty Chambers one ___ gound
13th I leave and Bequeath to my uncle David Steele the one half of my lands in Rockbridge County to him and his heirs and assigns forever
14th I leave and bequeath to my uncles John Allen, Thomas Paxton, William McCormick, and my cousin John Steele the other half of my lands in said county to each an equal part to them and their heirs forever
15th I leave and bequeath to Ruby Paxton, one silk coat
And lastly I do hereby appoint my friends Joseph McClung and James Tate sold executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other for former will by me heretofore and confirming this and this only to be my last will and testament.
In Testimony thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal on this 28th day of January 1807.

The last will and testament of Elizabeth Steele dec'd was produced in court proved by the oath of John Humphrays, Samuel Humphreys two of the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be Recorded: and on the motion of Joseph McClung and James Tate the Executors therein named who made oath according to law, certificate is granted them for obtaining probate thereof in due form they having together with John Alexander their security entered into and acknowledged bond in the penalty of five Thousand dollars conditioned according to law.
