Notes for Elizabeth Adelide Perkins: She was a baby when her father died. Her father was very close to Gentle John Perkins, and Gentleman John took Elizabeth into his home and reared her as his own. She grew up with him children, and his two sons, Eli and Ephraim Perkins appear to have been very close to her. elizabeth was one year and six months old when she became his ward. Betsy was "to the manor born". she owned a plantation and slaves; her uncle was one of the wealthiest men in North Carolina. She went to Arkansas, when she was around 60 years old, after the death of her husband Jacob, Eli and Alfred. Her son, Eli, in 1835 went by horseback to Lincoln Co., NC taking 50 days for the trip, to help in the settlement of her estate. He took with him, her horse and wagon. She is buried either in the Alfred Sherrill Cemetery between Bethesda and Batesville, Arkansas or at Batesvillle's Pioneer cemetery.
