Elizabeth Blanche Ordway was the daughter of Albert Kirk Ordway and Elizabeth Patten Ordway. She was born on 18 October 1883 in Chicago. She grew up in Chicago where she and her mother lived with her grandmother at 2944 S. Park Ave. Chicago. This building appears to be an 8 family flat. Elizabeth was well knows as a piano player. She attended the Chicago Conservatory of music and performed at the Chicago Opera House. She married Joseph Schertz in Chicago at the home of her Grandfather Ordway. In 1915 Joseph, Elizabeth and their baby daughter, Elizabeth May moved to Oak Park, Illinois where they bought a home at 704 South Clinton Avenue. At that time or shortly afterwards, Elizabeth’s Mother, Elizabeth Patten Ordway also made her home with the family. Elizabeth Ordway Schertz died of peritonitis on 24 September 1934 in Oak Park, Illinois. Sadly this was also the wedding day of her daughter, Elizabeth May Schertz.
