The Republican Thursday, April 1, 1875 On last Wednesday [March 24, 1875] morning, Miss [Elisabeth] McDaniel, daughter of Enoch McDaniel of this township was severely burned after taking fire from the fireplace. Her back and shoulders were terribly burned. Her mother in attempting to put out the flame sustained severe burns to her hands.

Elizabeth died as a result of the burns.
