According to her brother, Henry, the following notes tell us a bit about Elizabeth:

Elisabeth was born in Germany and came to this country when she was three years old. At the age of seven, she suffered from an attack of St. Vitus Dance and Rheumatic Fever. At the time the family resided on a farm on Norton Street in Rochester (now the site of Silver Stadium Ball Park). After effects of the disease partially immobilized her until she was 11. At age 16, she ran away with Hollywood as her destination; she never made it beyond Cleveland, Ohio where she met a young dishwasher in a diner and married him in 1926. Through efforts of her parents, she was located and returned home by a cousin of her father's by the name of Schwartz.

Shortly thereafter, the marriage between Elizabeth and William was annulled. She obtained employment doing housework to contribute to the family coffers during the Depression. In 1929, she met John Denninger through membership in the Bavarian Alpengrün Club. They married 12 May 1934. Elizabeth and John had two children. Elizabeth suffered emotional stress following her divorce from John resulting in brief hospitalization.

Later she took courses in Practical Nursing and followed a career in that field until her retirement. When in her 60s, she married Peter Born, a widower, she had known for many years.

Elizabeth suffered poor health in her senior years including open heart surgery, knee replacement, and severe arthritis.
