Facts and Events
Elizabeth Mackley was baptised on 27th February 1757 at Owthorpe in Nottinghamshire, daughter of Margaret Mackley, formerly Matchet, and her husband John Mackley, a farmer. On 19th May 1774, aged seventeen, Elizabeth married a farmer called Joseph Wild at Owthorpe. A few years later, in 1781, Elizabeth's brother Edward would marry Joseph's younger sister Alice Wild. Elizabeth and Joseph had twelve children baptised at Owthorpe between 1775 and 1799, although five died young. Three of the children died in the space of less than a month between November and December 1793, suggesting an illness in the family. Elizabeth died aged about 45. She was buried at Owthorpe on 5th February 1830. Joseph survived her by 28 years. References
