    Elizabeth Lair was the daughter of Joseph Lair and Persis Warren.
    Elizabeth married Samuel Dunnavan on December 22, 1807 in Harrisonburg, Rockingham Co., Virginia. They had three children: William Lair Dunavan; George Milton Dunnavan; and Joseph Albert Dunavan.

    After Samuel died in 1816,in Ohio, she married David Letts on February 27, 1817. They had four children: Nehemiah Madison; James Robinson; Noah Harris; and Amanda Malvina Letts.

    Moved to Cedar Point, Illinois, a mile south of Peru, where Mr. Letts set up a sawmill. Moved to LaSalle Co., Illinois in 1830.

    Joseph Albert Dunavan's mother was Elizabeth (Lair) Dunavan, was from the same region as her husband. Their children were three sons; Wm. L., Joseph Albert and George, whose father died in 1816. Their mother lived a widow three years, when she married David Letts, a cousin of the Armstrong "boys" as they all were then. The sons of these two families were raised together, attending the same exceedingly rustic educational establishment. from notes of David Dunavan 1938, stating that is was copied from a old newspaper in possession of Mrs. Lewis Dunavan, Kidder, Mo., June 14, 1931.

    Elizabeth Lair started west about 1808 from the Shenandoah Valley, for the great new land west of the Allighenies, as a bride of Samuel Dunavan. From notes of David Dunavan in 1938.
