I have traced my line back to an Oliver Holden of Rishton, Lancashire born c. 1710 but we cannot find his bap. record. His son Joseph1 Holden was born 1739 and his family of 9 children lived in Bolton before his son, Joseph 11departed for the US in 1829. My great grand father, James came to Canada in 1860. As part of my work in checking the Holdens of Holden Hall and Todd Hall, Haslingden, Lancashire I have assembled about 150 pages of documented Holden lineage back to the Robert Holden you mention of c. 1100. I will mail you a disc of this work for nothing in the hope that you might be able to assist me as I am stuck !!

Family Data Collection - Births Record about Elizabeth Ann Holden Name: Holden, Elizabeth Ann Father: Holden , James Mother: , Sarah Birth Date: 20 May 1826 State: SC Country: USA

There was a Holden family that existed in the back country of South Carolina in the early 1800s....Two brothers, William and Richard married and had tracts of land on the Chatooga river... (Georgia line)......One brother, Elisha, served in the CW... Livd in the Pickens district near now Clemson U......

Their father was a John Holden that had a large tract of land on the Keowee river near Salem after the Revolutionery war. He was supposed to be buried on his land....????

A son, Will Holden, of Elisha is buried at Fall Creek Baptist church......Will's first wife was Naomi Barton of Eastatoee Valley.... He was an early rural mail carrier in the later 1880s and had a post office in his home, known as Danville, SC in 1895.

Can anyone add to the origin of this Holden clan ????? There is a Holden mountain on the Chatooga at Russells... and a family Holden cemetery on the old Holden tract near the Chatooga river......
