- ↑ odd that she is age 17 born in PA in the 1860 census and 15 born in Ohio in 1870... so must be an error somewhere. Her obit reports she was born in 1842
- ↑ "Death has once more reminded us that time is fleeting. On Saturday about half past four Mrs. Joseph Blackford was called from a life of usefulness and labor, to one of rest and happiness. Two doctors were summoned, Dr. Simon and Black of which the former announced the case apoplexy of the heart and lungs. The deceased was only sick two days.
She was the daughter of Peter and Leah Heckhert (sic), born in Dolphin (sic) county, Penn., in the year of 1842. At the age of eight years, she emigrated with her parents to Crawford county, Ohio. Few years later she was united in marriage with Joseph Blackford, and to them were born ten children. She leaves a husband and two children, Mr. John Blackford and Mrs. Jennie Cline, to remember her as a kind, indulgent wife and mother. She was been a noble, faithful Christian of the Evangelical church for fourty-two (sic) years, serving her blessed Master. For 56 years 8 months and 15 days she has fought the battle of life. The funeral was held at the Evangelical church at 1 P.M. Monday, conducted by Rev. Thomson, and the remains were interred at the cemetery, one mile east of Bradner."
