Manifest for Madonna gives wrong names but the dates are right. Arrived in New York on September 1, 1922 and departed from Constanza. "Pierre Bartolf, his wife Elisabeta, and son "Jean" are going to his son-in-law, Bartolf, in Lakemond, NJ RFD 3. Obviously the person writing the names was French.

We called her Alte Gott. (Old godmother). On a ride to Kitchener, she insisted on sitting in the front seat with all the windows closed. We were 10 in all in the auto -- there were people in the jump seats and the little kids on the floor. We were all breathing hard.
