Helen (Williams) Rinker recalls the death of Lizzie Williams: "I was six years old when our grandmother "Lizzie" Williams passed away in March 1927. the snow was belly deep to the horses and no vehicles could travel. Roads were dirt and a neighbor rode horseback to find a sled that could make the trip from the ranch to Sheridan. The snow was so deep on the present John E. Rice ranch (aka the Wrench Ranch) north of Sheridan that a horse-drawn sled was used to make the trip to Sheridan."
