    Elizabeth, born Mar. 26, 1761, married Mar. 21, 1782, Samuel Cross, born in Litchfield, in 1757. Came to Hancock, N. H., in 1794. The house they first built had a loose floor and the fire was built on the ground. But better times must have come, for Mrs. Shuttuck, niece, writes of her aunt: "She was a large, stately woman, and they rode in a square-topped chaise with a yellow bottom, the only one in the place in those days." The first wife died Aug. 31, 1828. He married second, Mrs. Taylor, of Greenfield, N. H., whither they removed about the year 1837. Children
