- ↑ Everything on this page is a guess, even the maiden name. The marriage record to James Stockwell gives her named as Elizabeth Chapen, which Allred gives as Chapin, but the name of their daughter is recorded as Lucy Capen Stockwell (Allred changes that to Chapin). She is said to be of Warwick in the intention, but no Chapin or Capen family is documented in the records at that time period. (Also, Allred creates duplicate entries, in an unrelated case, for the wife of John Pratt, once under the name Lucy Capen, one under the name Lucy Chapin.) Source:Kennedy, Mabel Stockwell. Stockwell Genealogy, p. 229, 233, notes the same issue, but since the son Eli named one of his children Nathaniel Capen Stockwell, notes that everything we know about this lady fits the Elizabeth Capen b. Stoughton (part set off as Stoughtonham and renamed to Sharon) 1761 to Nathaniel and Lusanne Capen.
The birth about 1760 is based on the marriage date of 1786.
The death after 1823 is based on her note declining administration of her husband Joshua Atwood's estate. The Stockwell Genealogy claims she went to live with her son Eli Stockwell in Ohio and died there in 1839 (referring to this gravestone.
