  3. Source:Allred, Marilyn. Town of Warwick, Franklin County, Massachusetts, Genealogical Records 1739-1900, Births, Marriages,, p. 12, says Warren Atwood married "Eliza Stockwell of Warwick", this information coming from the intention record. Under the Stockwell families, no connection to Warren Atwood is shown for any Stockwell, including not for Betsey, d/o James Sr. The Find A Grave memorial for Warren Atwood's wife, which has no picture to lend it any credibility, gives the birth date of 26 Jun 1789. Ironically, this is Betsey's brother Eli's birthday, she being born 10 years to the day later. So it is not clear if this is a typo, or poor research matching Eliza to a male named Eli rather than a female named Betsey. However, it does seem that this Betsey is the most intuitive candidate to be the Eliza who married Warren Atwood.

In the Franklin probate file for James Stockwell Jr. who d. 1827 (file 6701) is the petition, dated 12 Aug 1816, of Betsey Stockwell of Warwick a minor above 14 daughter of James Stockwill late of Warwick deceased, to have Joshua Atwood of Warwick (Warren Atwood's father) appointed as her guardian. Clearly this is filed in the wrong place since James Jr. who lived until 1827, could not be the father who was deceased in 1816. The probate of James Sr., who died in 1811, was handled in Hampden County probate courts, so apparently James Jr. was the only James Stockwell file Franklin county had, and hence the petition was misfiled. Importantly to this case, however, the connection to the Atwood family strongly indicates {but does not strictly prove) that Betsey, d/o James Sr., was the woman who married Warren Atwood.
