Elizabeth Breckenridge, born February 1, 1783, married, October
20, 1803, in Bourbon County, Kentucky, Matthew Duncan, eldest
child of James and Elizabeth (Strode) Duncan, who was born in
Virginia September 24, 1778. The annals of Platte County,
Missouri, state that on "November 11, 1826, a company of 93
emigrants arrived (in Clay County,) from Bourbon County,
Kentucky, led by Captain James Duncan and including Matthew
Duncan his son, and others." Clay is one of the Missouri
counties included in what is termed the Platte Purchase.
Matthew Duncan died in Clay County, January 27, 1844, his wife
Elizabeth very shortly thereafter, June 10, 1844.
