From Margaret Harris Stover's article on Samuel Holmes of Montville, Connecticut in the Mayflower Quarterly (references omitted)

Elisha applied for a pension at Montville on 21 July 1832, giving his date of birth in Montville. He was living in Montville when he enlisted and served as a soldier in the Connecticut Line. On 5 March 1844 Griswold Holmes posted bond for the administration of the estate of Elisha Holmes of Montville with Nicholas Latimer as surety.

In the 1810 census, his numbers were 2-0-1-0-1-1-1-2-0-1 He shows on the 1840 Military pensioners list for Connecticut as Elisha Holms 81 in the household of Jonathan Forseth Montville New Lond
