    Children... with first wife... ii. Elisha, b. abt 1642 (d. Yarmouth 17 May 1732 "in his 91st year" [YarVR 809]); m. by 1666 Mary___ (eldest child b. 30 Nov 1666 [YarVR 6]). (Mary is said to be daughter of Edward Sturgis, but that is based on close association of the families and no direct evidence).

    ... Elisha Hedge, the father of Thomas, was a leading resident of Yarmouth, and his name frequently appears on the records. He had an early grant of land near Edward Sturgis, and was among those who paid the highest tax "towards the charges of the late war" [King Philip's]. He was constable in 1685. His wife's name was Mary, and although their marriage is not found on record, the conclusion has been reached through research that she was Edward Sturgis' daughter Mary who was baptized in Scituate, June 1, 1646. She died March 5, 1712-13, and her husband "mr Elisha hedge departed ys Life on ye 17th: day of May 1732: in or near ye 92 year of his age." ...
