His wife's name was Mary and although their marriage is not found on record, the conclusion has been reached through research that she was Edward Sturgis' daughter Mary who was baptized in Scituate June 1, 1646.
Mary is said to be the daughter of Edward Sturgis but there is no direct evidence for this. Elisha's sister Mary is called Mary Sturgis in her father's will, assumed to have married Samuel Sturgis, which by itself, could be sufficient to account for the close connection between the Sturgis and Hedge family.
