Could ELISABETH be the "Lizzie" who was mentioned on Page 244 of 'Hanna's Town' (2010)? Could her sister be the "Kate Hildebrand" who was also mentioned on the same page?

    1976.

1976 letter says that Elisabeth was "Nichtehelich Tochter", and give her maiden name as GEIBEL. Indications are that the parents did not marry until living in Wabash County. It is assumed that Hildenbrand was the father, but the Gemeinde does not say. Her date of birth in the Waldgrehweiler records matches up perfectly with the date on her tombstone.

Passenger list. Besides her mother (also Elisabeth) appearing adjacent to them were: ANNE HILDEBRANT, and CATHARINE HILDEBRANT. They seem to have been "lost" in history. Were they Jacob Hildenbrand's sisters?

  4. The family was living in the "German Town" area of Wabash in 1900. The enumeration shows that she had given birth to five children by then, and that all five were living, although only two appeared on this census page.
