- ↑ Source:Allred, Marilyn. Town of Warwick, Franklin County, Massachusetts, Genealogical Records 1739-1900, Births, Marriages,, p. 223, found two Eliot Rawsons in Warwick, along with two marriages, and by all appearances, Allred just assumes the first marriage was the oldest Eliot, and the second one was the younger one.
However, this appears wrong. There is evidence that only one Eliot lived to adulthood (in 1810 there is only one Eliot Rawson found in the census, and in 1820, after that one moved to Ohio, there are none). Further, the second marriage is a year after the wife of the first marriage died, making it most likely it is a remarriage by the same man. The two wives were sisters, probably further indicating this.
Source:Crane, Ellery B. Ancestry of Edward Rawson, Secretary of the Colony of Massachusetts Bay (an updated work by a family association building on Source:Rawson, Sullivan S. Rawson Family : Memoir of Edward Rawson, Secretary of the Colony of Massachusetts Bay from 1651 to 1686), p. 101, is completely missing the older Eliot, but shows Elliott Rawson [#1430] b. 1778, having both marriages, he moving to Ohio soon after his second marriage.
What we know is that one Eliot moved to Ravenna, Ohio. In the 1820 census, he is 26 to 44, which would fit the 1778 birth, but not the 1771 birth who would have been 49. Administration of his estate in 1825 is granted to his widow Hannah. Crane, being secretary of the Rawson Family Association, says this, his presentation probably reflecting the recollections of various relatives. It agrees with analysis of known data and is presumed correct, though it is not possible to offer conclusive proof.
